No. QueenBoots no longer uses any cookies.
Does QueenBoots track anything?
Yes. QueenBoots uses two main types of browser storage, 'Session Storage' and 'Local Storage'. Both are part of the Web Storage API, which allows us to store and retrieve data in your web browser
Session Storage:
- Session Storage is a type of web storage that allows us to store data for the current session only
- The data stored in Session Storage is specific to the current browser tab or window and is cleared when the tab or window is closed
- Session Storage is useful for storing temporary data that is only needed for the duration of your session, such as form data, preferences, or other session-specific information
QueenBoots uses Session Storage extensively throughout the site.
NOTE: If you pin a tab, the Session Storage persists, even when you reboot your computer. Research shows that it is possible to programmatically clear the Session Storage in a pinned tab when the browser is closed, but these approaches rely on the browser events and APIs, and they may not work consistently across all browsers or in all scenarios. Therefore, we do not clear Session Storage, and rely upon you closing the tab.
Local Storage:
- Local storage is a type of web storage that allows us to store data with no expiration date
- The data stored in Local Storage persists across browser sessions and is not cleared when you close the browser tab or window
- Local Storage is useful for storing data that needs to be accessed across multiple sessions, such as longer term preferences, application settings, or other long-term data
QueenBoots uses Local Storage for the following purposes: -
- We store the date of your last visit to the site. This is used to inform you of any new downloads that have been added since your last visit
- We also use it to synchronise the countdown clocks across tabs when you go through the sign-up or reset password procedures
- The preferred volume level set by you when using both the audio and video players
- The last used averaging strategy in the Audio Analyser
The above storage persists until it is overwritten by the site or by you when you clear your browsing data.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with our website (you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information 'here').
If you don't want Google Analytics to be used in your browser, you can install the 'Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On' provided by Google.
